Just sat through: ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’

Has to be the worst of the lot. Pretty awful. And I reckon they’ll make another.

Some folks will do anything if you pay them enough money...

Even beat a dead horse.

... But that’s just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Express yourself completely,
then keep quiet.
Be like the forces of nature:
when it blows, there is only wind;
when it rains, there is only rain;
when the clouds pass, the sun shines through.

If you open yourself to the Tao,
you are at one with the Tao
and you can embody it completely.
If you open yourself to insight,
you are at one with insight
and you can use it completely.
If you open yourself to loss,
you are at one with loss
and you can accept it completely.

Open yourself to the Tao,
then trust your natural responses;
and everything will fall into place.

Holy craaaap! Postal service left a box at the front door today. I picked the thing up and brought it its and put it on the coffee table and turned to my desk to get a knife to open it up.

It was about that time I got a whiff of perfume or something. As y'all know, I've had the flu so my smeller isn't working at optimal capacity, right? But this 'Smell' continued to get stronger until it was just about unbearable. Sickeningly sweet and strong (and hydrocarbon based I think), it seemingly sucked the air from my lungs within just a few minutes. I ended up having to go on the tube and quickly get the thing out into the recycle bin and leave the back door open for a bit just to clear the air. That was just plain ob'noxious'

Jeebus people, please use common 'scents' when applying your scent! Generally very little goes a very looooooooooong way!

My god people. I'm writing verse...

Anyway - here it is...

It can start as just a barely perceptible itch
That one cannot quite scratch
Then the first skritch-skritch of pen on paper,
That scratch of graphite on vellum
That first clickety-clackety of the keyboard,

That initial thought gotten down
That becomes a raging torrent of words
Pouring forth so fast
That my aching fingers cannot keep up.
Then at last the paper, the ink and I are sated, satisfied.

Then...
Wait! I wrote that!? Oh hell no. Time for a re-write.
The struggle is real y'all.

I did a thing on medium.com. About my experiences with COPD. I posted a link on FB with a blurb. It was received fairly well. It came about as kind of a response to a friend's post on FB that was one of those silly type things If she got 100 likes (hooboy... I know, right?) her daughter would quit smoking. This touched a nerve with me. Within a few hours I had blasted out about 2600 words from the heart.

Tangled and trappedAfter that my little essay was picked up by one of the 'zines on medium: Healthcare in America

This was really flattering. And I felt humbled as well. So as I come up with things I will likely continue to publish there.

Some of us are not FaceBook friends so here's a link to the essay: Do you smoke? Still? Let me tell you a story

If you're so inclined hit the applause button a time or a few you will find within the story on medium. If you want to share it you feel free to do so. If you want to do so via FaceBook please feel free This is a public post. I'd like to help people to quit smoking. Or at least get them thinking about it.

I went on a search via Alfred for music by "CANTIGA". Not looking for anything specific really, but they've got a compilation album releasing this month. I wanted to see if there was anything on this new release that I didn't already have. Haven't even seen the track list yet.

Alfred found... Nothing. N O T H I N G. Now I know there's over 30 songs from this group in my library. I keep the media stuff on an external HDD. Mini has a limited HD space and I've got over 80 Gigs of just music alone. So I did a spotlight search, and got some really wonky results. Stuff showing on my backup drive and nowhere else...

musicnotes.jpgAnd That Ain't Right

So I fire up iTunes, Look up the locations of a couple of these songs I was looking for. Like "Show me where is the actual file located?" And it points at the damned backup drive So I check some other music. Movies. TV shows, etc. Everything is on the backup drive.

Check the location set in iTunes preferences and it is set for the backup drive. I can't even No idea how or when that got changed.

Did a compare between the two drives. It's a SuperDuper! Backup so essentially it is a clone. Set to backup once or twice a week. There was a difference of ONE item and it was on the backup... And I made one addition in the last week or two... So it must have been a recent change.

So what happens when yer backup tries to backup itself??? BOOM!! Space time continuum gets out of whack and then... Head asplodey!

I copied the one folder that was out of sync and set the media location back to where it is supposed to be and ejected the back. Now conducting a scientific study to make sure everything is working properly...

i.e. I am listening to music... All is right in the universe. Or at least my small piece of it...

That's great and all buuuuuuuuut it doesn't solve my original issue as to why Alfred search results are different from Spotlight's...

A man with more money than me once wrote:

Well, the wind is blowin’ harder now

Fifty knots of there abouts,

There’s white caps on the ocean.

And I’m watching for water spouts

It’s time to close the shutters

It’s time to go inside.

I live in Houston, Texas. Lived in the south close to big bodies of water most of my life. Always loved the beach.

Southeast Texas for damn near all of my adult life. Wasn’t for the family I have here, I’d be ready to leave.

Hell, I probably am ready any ways.

If I could muster up the money needed and had an idea of a place to go to and a way to get there, I’d likely be gone. Kinda sick of the heat and the humidity. Nine months of that shit — year in year out can make a body a little crazy. Or a lotta bodies a lot crazy… The Crazies have a lot to do with it too, right now for me. Have you seen our fucking state government?

Even though I love the beach and ocean, I ain’t been to the beach in a while now. Dunno if I ever will again. At least not at Galveston… That ain’t my idea of a beach any more.

And then there’s this shit…

Good Luck.” The Man said. “Thoughts and Prayers” other Versions of The Man said.

Great Googly Moogly. “Good Luck”. Been my experience that luck — good or bad or indifferent — ain’t got much to do with this kinda shit.

And “Thoughts and Prayers…” Hah! I reckon that’s nice. Don’t mean a hill of beans, but it does seem to absolve the person sayin’ it of any guilt. Most times any action either. And that’s all well and good. “Thoughts and Prayers”, indeed. But again, it’s been my experience — Unless the “Thoughts and Prayers” are backed with some kinda solid action, they ain’t gonna do shit for those that needs it most.

I hate fucking hurricanes.

I think — don’t know for sure cause I ain’t a fucking climate scientist, but I believe them when they say it because they do and they can interpret the data a lot better than I can, a lot of the climate issues we’re havin’ right now are influenced by mankind.

Not fond of any extreme weather right now. Be it fucking hot or fucking cold.

But it seems likely I need to get the fuck outta here for a while. Yeah. And I don’t see that happy little thing happenin’ any time soon, either.

Good luck… HaHa! Yeah. Good luck to us. Looks like we’re gonna need it.

Keep us in yer thoughts and prayers too! HaHa!

Had an accident last week. Spilled water into my old Apple Aluminum **wired ** keyboard. And now it maybe about time to say adieu. Got a bunch of stuff that isn't working. That's just the stuff I can tell. On the main keys: 2, 3, -, [delete] (both of them), [tab], q,w,e, left bracket, [] key, a, s, d, ', left [shift], z, x, v, [cntl], [alt] or [option], [command]

And on the numeric keypad, which I am already missing, as I use it a lot: 0, 2, [Enter], +, -, *.

They don't make this thing anymore. Not in the cheap wired version. Make a "Magic" Blue tooth version... * sigh *. AT TWICE THE PRICE. Not everything has to be fucking wireless.

* So now what? *

Kind of wondering if I just let it sit for a while (although it has already been a few days) if I'll get that functionality back.

* One thing is certain, I need to get it off my desk. I keep trying to * USE THE FUCKER!!

* laughs *

So it looks like until I can figure out the photo posting thing, I'll still be doing the LJ thing. The LJ thing was always my thing anyway.

I've really no intention of bailing out of there until I have to.

I'm here to *mostly* read what you folk are up to. If you want to see what I am up to? Come see me, on LiveJournal. After all my time away from there, I'm still relearning LJ too. Throw this weird and mysterious shit and well, all I can say, is:

Maybe later.

I'm here for you guys though.
